    The Dispatcher position is responsible for monitoring all EMS personnel and vehicle activity, while coordinating all incoming and outgoing
    communication within the ambulance service operation.


    High School Diploma or GED is required.


    2 years experience as a Dispatcher is preferred.
    Experience in a dispatching or call center is preferred.
    Relevant emergency dispatching experience or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training preferred.
    Demonstrated knowledge of techniques, procedures and methods used in the operations of a private communication center is required.
    General knowledge of local and surrounding cities and the locations of their highways and main streets preferred.
    Effective interpersonal communication methods and techniques required.
    Remain calm and effective under heavy workloads and in emergency situations required.
    Must have the ability to obtain and act on information quickly and accurately in emergency situations.
    Understand and follow oral and written instructions required.
    Ability to learn and effectively perform the dispatcher responsibilities within an on-the-job training setting, as well as a classroom setting through related
    material, oral instruction, observation, structured lecture, and reading.
    Ability to enter data or information into a terminal, PC or other keyboard device to update information in the EMS Computer-Aided Dispatch system.


    Certificate, License or Registration Required/Preferred
    Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and/or Emergency Medical Dispatching certification/training is preferred.
    Certificate, license, and registration requirements apply to any new hire after 6/1/2014. Incumbents are held to the standard at time of hire and will be
    exempt from the above requirement.
